Shropshire business leaders can get advice on how to improve energy resilience and reduce energy costs at a collaborative breakfast event.

Shropshire Council and the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership are hosting a two-panel breakfast meeting where experts will share information and guidance on cost reducing sustainable energy solutions, funding sources and energy and environmental auditing.

The first panel will focus on sustainability and resilience and will feature AceOn and the Big Solar Co-op.

The AceOn Group is a nationally respected energy storage and battery company and is passionate about helping the country meet Net Zero Carbon ambitions and targets.

The Big Solar Co-op aims to unlock the huge potential of rooftop solar on community and commercial buildings across the UK. Its first tranche of installations include a food-processing plant in Tenbury Wells and a doctors’ surgery in Birmingham. A substantial pipeline of other large rooftop sites across the UK is also under development.

Tim Yair, Principal Net Zero Project Officer for the Midlands Net Zero Hub will also advise on sources of funding and grants available to businesses to help future-proof energy supply and costs.

The second panel will showcase companies who have maximised their energy savings by implementing best practices and explain how auditing can lead to energy and carbon savings.

The leading home safety company Aico, will demonstrate positive actions that have helped make its state-of-the-art premises in Oswestry energy efficient. Examples include installing solar panels, commissioning energy audits and installing EV chargers on site.

Cool Shropshire and Telford, a partnership between Shropshire Council, Telford & Wrekin Council and environmental consultants E4environment Ltd, will advise delegates on the potential to save money by becoming more energy and resource efficient and increasing resilience against supply chain shocks and the effects of climate change.

The Business Energy Breakfast is being held in the Sovereign Suite at Shrewsbury Town Football Club from 8am until 10.30am on Monday 6 March. It is free to attend.
