100 enthusiastic individuals, partners and businesses gathered yesterday to highlight the importance and opportunities that exist for retrofitting in Shropshire.
Presenters talked about the extensive economic opportunities, but also the real and lasting difference this work can make to the quality of life of people in Shropshire’s local communities.
Government statistics estimate that over 25,000 homes require retrofitting in Shropshire alone, and with billions of pounds being provided by government across a variety of initiatives to meet the UK’s carbon-reduction targets, local businesses in the construction sector were urged to get involved.
Over £1m has already being spent with local suppliers and further tradesmen are needed across a range of skills.
Upskilling and accreditation may be required but relevant free and supported training and courses currently exist due to UKSPF funding.
