Finding Your Steady Voice: A Morning Workshop For Women In Business

4 December 2025 at 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
How to calm nerves, hold your ground, and speak with clarity even when the stakes feel high

We all know that moment.

The one where your heart beats faster, your throat tightens, and the words you planned to say seem to vanish. Maybe you are in a meeting, about to share an idea, or you are in conversation with someone who speaks over you. It is that subtle but familiar flicker between confidence and collapse.

This session is designed for those moments.

Led by Emma Alston, a voice and communication coach with an MA in Voice Studies from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, this interactive morning workshop explores the connection between the body, the breath, and the voice.

You will learn to recognise when your nervous system is hijacking your voice and, more importantly, how to bring yourself back to balance quickly and gently.

Why This Matters

Through Emma’s recent online programme Elevate Your Voice, one theme has emerged again and again. Many women are held back not by lack of skill or intelligence, but by the physiological effects of self doubt. The racing pulse, the shallow breath, the dry throat. These are not signs of weakness. They are signs of the body trying to protect you.

This workshop invites you to meet those responses with understanding rather than judgment.

You will explore how emotions influence the voice, how to calm the body before you speak, and how to sound composed and credible even when you do not feel it yet.

The tools are simple, evidence based, and deeply empowering.

What you will learn…

• How to use tone, pace, and pause to project calm authority

• Techniques to stay vocally present when interrupted or challenged

• How to rebuild confidence and composure after a difficult moment

What To Expect

A calm, welcoming space.

A blend of science, story, and practice.

You will move, breathe, speak, and reflect, all at your own pace.

No need for notes or scripts, just curiosity and an open mind.

Who It Is For

Women in business. Female founders. Leaders. Entrepreneurs.

Anyone who wants to find her steady voice in the noise.

If you have ever hesitated to speak up, felt dismissed in meetings, or noticed your voice trembling when it matters most, this morning is for you.

Emma Alston is a spoken voice and communication coach based in Shropshire. She helps women and leaders speak with clarity, confidence, and presence. Her clients include Google, Staffordshire NHS, PwC and The Gateway Alliance.

Her approach combines the science of communication with the art of presence, helping people reconnect to their natural voice through authenticity rather than performance. She believes that your voice is not something to fix but something to free.
