Exciting opportunities for Shifnal businesses at forthcoming event

Shifnal businesses are being invited to a networking event next week that aims to motivate and inspire them to put the town on the map.

Shifnal Town Centre Regeneration Committee, alongside Shropshire Council, Visit Shifnal Business Forum and a small group of local businesses, want to look at the next steps for the town following its £3.5m regeneration.

Local business owner Adam Cawley from Woods the Cleaners said: –

“A few of us thought that Shifnal was far too quiet and wanted to look at how we could create events and interest in the town. When we talked to other businesses and Shifnal Town Council we discovered that there were lots of different people who thought the same way. Consequently, we want to bring them all together at this event to see how we can make this happen.

“We also want businesses in the town to know they are not alone and show them what help and support is out there. Whatever hurdles they may think stand in the way, these can be overcome together.

“Overall, we want the evening to be motivating, inspiring and a morale booster for businesses in the town.”

Roger Cox, Mayor of Shifnal, said:-

“This is an exciting time for Shifnal. Above all we want to make our town into a destination that people will want to visit and spend time in, and we need things to attract and retain visitors.

“There is a united voice among the business community in Shifnal to embrace this and make things happen. This networking event is the first step in that process.”

Mark Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for growth and regeneration, said:-

“Our high streets have changed so dramatically over the last few years, which requires new ways of thinking post-pandemic. We are pleased to support and work with Shifnal Town Council and the local business community in order to create a healthy economy.

“Representatives from Shropshire Council will be attending the event to offer advice on what support and funding might be available.”

The event is on Wednesday 11 October 2023 at Park House Hotel, Shifnal from 5.30pm – 6.30pm. There are a number of limited spaces remaining, so any other businesses interested in attending are urged to book right away.
