Workforce

Skilled workforce

Shropshire’s rich talent pool of skilled, committed, experienced workers across a range of key sectors has attracted a host of major brand names.

Over 35% of our population are educated to NVQ Level 4 and above and we have high levels of economic activity – 10% higher than the West Midlands average.

Many of our companies tell us that staff turnover is low and they experience high levels of commitment and willingness to engage in training and upskilling.

“Of the 30 members of staff based in our Shrewsbury office the majority have been with the company for 10-20+ years. People come to Shropshire and they want to stay…”
Bryan Hamilton, Director, AHR Global

“We have… found it easy to recruit the people we need locally and consequently, have built an extremely able, skilful and committed team at GWR Fasteners Ltd in Shropshire.”
Jude Robinson, MD, GWR Fasteners
