Educating Shropshire

Strong local education resources are critical for every employer – whether to recruit bright young talent, train and upskill their workforce or to persuade existing or prospective employees to locate here.

Shropshire has excellent schools and colleges, and now the new University Centre Shrewsbury. The County is rightly regarded as one of the best places in the country to educate children – making it a highly attractive relocation destination for people with young families. Educational achievements in Shropshire are consistently above national averages.

There are a range of strongly performing state schools and academies. The Shrewsbury Schools feed into the Shrewsbury Colleges Group which offers a wide range of A levels, vocational courses and apprenticeships, while several schools in the surrounding market towns have sixth forms.

North Shropshire College has two sites in Oswestry and Baschurch, while its Walford campus provides some of the best land-based facilities in the region. Herefordshire & Ludlow College services the south of the region.
