Environmental Technologies
The Environmental Technologies and Services industry in Shropshire is incredibly diverse, highly profitable and growing rapidly.
There are a strong cluster of over 200 businesses in the sector located throughout Shropshire that have developed a strong reputation with their sustained success in this growing field of work.
In response to this strong business base a county wide network was established in 2006 to support and develop the concentration of environmental businesses in the county. This has now developed into the Marches Environmental Technologies Network.
metnet is a dynamic business network supporting businesses within the environmental technology sector across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Worcestershire. metnet is a partnership between Herefordshire Council, Shropshire Council, Telford and Wrekin Council and Worcestershire County Council administered by Shropshire Council.
It has been set up to encourage companies to diversify into this sector, whilst supporting those within it to take up the business support on offer and ensure that opportunities for business development and growth are promoted to businesses.

This sector has considerable prospects for future growth, driven by strong market drivers such as UK and EU environmental policy and regulations and increasing attention on issues such as climate change and rising energy costs.
